About
Military Retirement Runway helps retiring service members and their families plan the first 24 months after retirement.
Who built it
Curtis Pavlik, a Navy veteran who retired in December 2025 after 16 years of service. He built Runway because pay, VA pay, taxes and a new job do not arrive on the same schedule, and families should see the gap before it happens.

What it covers
- All six branches: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard.
- 2026 basic pay tables, VA compensation rates effective December 2025, and state tax rules for all 50 states and DC.
- Retirement pay for active duty and for Reserve and Guard (points), the Survivor Benefit Plan, the GI Bill and FAFSA, TRICARE fees, a federal tax estimator, a VA home loan calculator, moving rules, a dated retirement timeline, leave sale estimates, and guides for SkillBridge, spouse jobs and state veteran benefits. Lite is free and includes the retirement plan, the Reference tab and the federal tax estimator. The education and grants, transition, VA home loan and state benefits tabs are part of the Full version, along with Careers, Business and Budget.
- Every figure links to its source, and Runway says so where official sources disagree or could not be confirmed.
What it does not cover yet
- Reserve and Guard medical retirement and drill-by-drill point counting. You enter your total points yourself.
If your situation is one of these, treat the numbers as a rough guide and confirm with DFAS, the VA and a qualified advisor.
